Statement of Responsibility
The art residency has been co-funded by the European Union and is part of the project ECHO II - Traditions in Transition, Creative Europe Programme. The artwork was produced with the financial support of the European Union. Its contents are the sole responsibility of its creators and do not necessarily reflect the views of the European Union.
Abstract
The artwork is inspired by the past and present of the place where it was created. I use simple natural laws and materials to show the feeling I felt. The artwork consists of a number of stones connected by a metal rope. The stones symbolize the different peoples and nationalities, connected to each other by a thread (metal rope), and interact with each other. They are separate units themselves, but also a common whole. Thus, the neighboring nations have a separate singularity and present, but also a common past and root. Through the laws of physics (weight, mass and energy), I show that when you place (swing) one unit of artwork, all units move and interact – so do peoples and nationalities: influence and determine a common direction. The work is placed on an apple tree as part of the place in which it was created. Nikolay Marinov
