Spetses, Greece

June – July 2021

Spetses, historically tied to the sea, played a key role in trade and shipbuilding from the 3rd millennium BC through the Greek War of Independence. During the Spetses Art Residency, artists worked in the Three Spetsiot Martyrs Church, near the historic shipyard of Hatzigiannis Mexis. Their artworks, inspired by the island’s maritime legacy, were exhibited at the Ecclesiastical Museum of Spetses in Aghios Nikolaos Church from 12 to 22 July 2021, celebrating the island’s seafaring traditions and community spirit.
