A collection – tribute to the cultural heritage of Bulgaria’s Rhodope region: A fashion project by Jose Marie Sta Iglesia

This collection is a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Bulgaria’s Rhodope region, brought to life through hands-on research into traditional costumes. It draws inspiration from the iconic “Rhodope Wedding” painting, celebrating themes of love, romance, abundance, and the harsh realities of life. The designs feature a rustic, romantic elegance, with feminine silhouettes that convey the fragility of life. The delicate use of Gaitan embroidery, wool felting, and flock printing brings a contemporary twist to these timeless traditions, creating a unique blend of past and present.

The collection aims to resonate deeply with those who appreciate the beauty of tradition while embracing modernity. It not only celebrates cultural history but also tells a compelling story of resilience, love, and the human spirit through fashion.

To ensure the collection reaches a wide audience and garners the attention it deserves, a robust visibility plan has been put in place, focusing on both traditional and digital platforms, as well as collaborations with key stakeholders in the fashion and craft industries.
