Dimitar Lolev, born on January 7, 1973, in Plovdiv, is a renowned saxophonist, composer, and arranger. He graduated from the Secondary Music School in Plovdiv with degrees in bassoon and piano before transitioning to the saxophone. In 2002, he joined the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen, Netherlands, where he completed the "New York Comes to Groningen" program. He reached the finals of the Dutch Jazz Competition in 2004 and won second prize for jazz soloist in the 2005 Leidse Jazz Stad Competition. Returning to Bulgaria in 2005, Lolev performed with notable Bulgarian musicians and began teaching in the Jazz and Pop Department in Plovdiv in 2008. He is a member of the Big Band "Braz Association," musical director of the "July Jazz Festival," and has been playing with the National Radio Big Band since 2012.
